Insomnia
Insomnia is the disturbance of a normal sleep pattern and is experienced by many people at some point in life. Insomnia can leave you feeling exhausted, unable to cope effectively and can make you irritable and frustrated.
The amount of sleep needed varies from person to person and is influenced by a number of factions including lifestyle, diet and environment. Insomnia can be experienced as: difficulty in getting to sleep; waking repeatedly during the night; waking early in the morning and not being able to get back to sleep; not feeling refreshed after sleep.
CBT has proved effective for sufferers of insomnia. A combination of CBT and mindfulness can teach you how to use techniques to help you to achieve mental and physical calm and relax yourself. Treatment can also help you to understand what may be causing your insomnia and sleeping problems.
Even in the most severe cases, depression is highly treatable. According to research CBT is the most effective treatment for depression. Used together with Mindfulness, CBT addresses problematic thought patterns with the aim of disengaging attention from repetitive negative thoughts that often trigger low mood.
Treatment helps you to understand cause and to develop strategies for improving mood.
